Corruption takes many forms, but always involves the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. Corruption can be classified as grand, petty and political.

Delna justifies its work on the following grounds:

• Corruption hinders the country’s development, being one of the prime causes of inequality among the Latvian population and a threat to Latvia’s security:
• Corruption multiplies social injustice and undermines opportunities for social equality in society for every member of society;
• Corruption broadens the divide between citizens and politics, and increases the lack of trust in Latvia’s democratic processes;
• Corruption is a justifiable reason for the public’s lack of faith in the judicial system, government and municipal bodies, and the principle of the rule of law;
• Corruption repels investment, creates unfair competition and allows dishonest and opaque business to thrive;
• Corruption erodes moral values in society, politics and business;
• Corruption threatens the rights of future generations to live in a clean, secure and prosperous society.
• Corruption undermines Latvia under conditions of hybrid warfare!
