Managing Conflicts of Interest in Central Government and State-Owned Enterprises

EXPERT FORUM AND ROUNDTABLE

June 18, 2021, 14:00–16:00 (EET)

This roundtable is the second in a three-part series concerning GRECO recommendations and Latvia’s progress in combatting corruption and advancing transparency.

The aim of this discussion is to increase awareness and discussion on the prevention, identification, and management of conflicts of interest in the central government of Latvia (level of consultants and advisers) and in the management of state or municipal owned companies. We have invited international experts to share their experiences and recommendations on conflict-of-interest management. We have invited the Members of the 13th Saeima and Latvian experts to share their vision of the progress that Latvia must make to achieve good governance and promote public trust in public authorities.

This roundtable will convene together Members of the 13th Saeima, representatives of civil society, subject-matter experts from Latvia and abroad, and the public.  In the second part of the event, we will invite Members of the 13th Saeima, representatives of the State Chancellery, and any interested parties to participate in a discussion on amendments to the Law “On Prevention of Conflicts of Interest in the Work of Public Officials” (No. 703 / Lp13) for certain groups of officials – members of university boards and supervisory boards of state-owned companies.

This event is open to the public.

The event is supported by the United States Embassy in Latvia.
