The main goal of the project is to promote cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic countries in the development of innovative solutions to improve the use of public data in the areas of preventing corruption and strengthening political integrity, which would improve the ability of citizens and journalists to prevent and detect corruption, as well as prosecute dishonest decision makers.
During the project, the partners (Latvian, Finnish and Estonian chapters of Transparency International) will be aware of and compare the quality of data sets related to the fight against corruption and political integrity in their countries. The comparative analysis will serve as a basis for organizing a regional online hackathon with participants from the private and public sectors of Latvia, Estonia and Finland, in order to develop initiatives for the use of currently available data sets.
The results of the hackathon will not only be potential initiatives for new data analysis tools, but also recommendations for regulatory changes to Latvian, Estonian and Finnish decision-makers related to the possible implementation of common data standards for anti-corruption and political integrity datasets. These recommendations will further enable the implementation of the initiatives and data analysis developed during the hackathon at the regional level. It is planned that each partner country will choose one initiative developed in the hackathon for further improvement.
