ABOUT US
“Sabiedrība par atklātību – Delna” / Transparency International LATVIA (TI LATVIA) was founded in 1998 as the Latvian chapter of Transparency International (TI). TI LATVIA’s goal is to develop an open, ethical, and democratic society free from corruption in politics, business and mutual relations.
TI LATVIA subscribes to Transparency International’s definition of corruption: that “Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.” TI LATVIA is aware of the lack of transparency in Latvia, and recognizes that corruption poses a significant threat to the well-being and prosperity of the Latvian people. TI LATVIA’s work in Latvia occurs in an environment where corruption is seen as a serious problem. In order to reduce corruption, TI LATVIA encourages the public not to stay silent, but to serve as a watchdog by calling out corruption.
